lyrics -Constant surprises

Lyrics to Constant Surprises :
I was walking home
Looking at the trees
Got the feeling that they
Were looking back at me

Thoughts that occurred to me
Where not of the usual kind
And I don't take it granted no
I don't call them mine
I don't call them mine
'Cause in my life things
Are built on

Constant surprises
Coming my way
Some call it coincidence
But I like to call it fate

Constant surprises
Coming my way
Some call it coincidence
But I like to call it fate

The higher forces want to connect
Last night in my dream I was talking to you
You know who you are
Were you dreaming too
'Cause in my life
Things are built on
Are built on

Constant surprises
Coming my way
Some call it coincidence
But I like to call it fate

Then on my way home I met this guy
He was not so shy
You know not that kind
We spoke then suddenly I could read his mind
You think it's mad
But I don't fool myself
You think its odd
'Cause in my life
In my life things are built on
They built on
They built on

Constant surprises
Coming my way
Some call it coincidence
But I like to call it fate

Constant surprises
Coming my way
Some call it coincidence
But I like to call it fate

possible song choices

we have decided to go with the band little dragon. Their  genre is synth pop, trip hop , downtempo, soul

and we think that they are a great choice ,as they have a varied selection of songs which allow us to be creative and explore different ideas . the songs that we have selected is seconds, runabout and ritual union which all are varied  quirky beats and different tone to them. in order to make a final selection we would have to consider the lyrics and what visuals we would use to reflect them.

interesting editing and inspiration

Here they have experimented with the colour ;making it bright and colourful  to reflect the upbeat song and colourful lyrics .
here they have stuck to the basic conventions of a music video by using  close-up of the singer /artist
four frames in one shot adds to the playful lyrics and upbeat song

the editing exaggerates the dance move that beyonce is performing

the fast change of colour is very effective as it edited straight on the beat

she uses patterns and colour to add to the playfulness of the video
mimics the whole idea of an illusion like a dream which amplifies the lyrics of the song in addition the  editing is very dynamic

i like the use of lighting and how it adds mystery to the video

irreplaceable analysis

Irreplaceable is a song by Beyonce Knowles the video begins with an awkward and tension filled scene with a man/soon to be ex and Beyonce. whilst the short scene is taking place B(beyonce) is filing her nails which highlights her lack of care for the present situation ,showing that she does not give a damn or is over it ; this is additionally emphasised by the lack of interaction between the two . it is later revealed that this man is her ex and he is leaving her house.

at that moment the soundtrack begins to play

in the video their is a distinct relationship between the lyrics and the visuals when the singer sings "to the left to the left everything you own in a box to the left " the visual corresponds  with the lyrics as it is showing him leaving the house with little belongings  furthermore the distinct relationship with the visual and the lyrics continue"it's my name that's on that jag remove your bag let me call you a cab"the visuals later show her doing the following  she displays a great deal of independence within the video showing that her ex can be replaced  "standing in the front talking bout how I'm such fool talking bout how I'll never ever find a man like you you got me twisted ." As these lyrics are sung  she is stripping him of the things she brought him including the "jag" highlighting her control of the situation and the fact that he indeed is replaceable.  the reoccurring relationship with the visuals and the lyrics  highlights the meaning . the visuals do remind us that in-fact the lyrics are supposed to be taken literally  "I can have another you in a minute in matter fact he'll be here in a minute baby" she believes  that he truly can be replaced and has already taken action on replacing him .
shots of her getting ready for a date
throughout the video there are certain shots of B getting ready for a date these shots continue to highlight her taking action on replacing her ex, without any care or regard for his feelings .
the song Irreplaceable is an R&B song therefore you would expect the video to have dancing /dance routine and an emphasis on the lead singer . Instead of a dance routine Beyonce is jamming with her band this act would usually be seen in a different genre music video such as rock /indie .
young giants cough syrup video

.however the jamming/performing  with her band acts as a liberation / victory moment in the video

. In order to maintain 'star-texts' there is usually  the demand from the record company to have a number of close ups of the artist or vocalist. in b's video there were a number of close-ups and long-shots of the artist  These shots remind the viewers of the emphasis  on how music videos additionally sell the artist as a package  . there is not a strong sense of voyeurism in the video as Beyonce is performing to the camera and occasionally   interacting with it

countdown
even though Beyonce is shown in her lingerie , the sense of voyeurism is lost as Beyonce tends to know what is going on which ties into the lyrics she is now carefree and doesn't care for her ex "well since I'm not your everything how about I mean nothing nothing at all to you"  . This video is similar to a few of Beyonce Knowles songs (such as best thing I never had)  however not the majority her videos usually have bright colours and a range of dancing such as her more recent song Count down.
the use of close-ups on Beyonce is frequently done throughout her other videos . she is also known for her range of hairstyles and her change of image

student videos

collage of album covers

a range of varied music videos

beyonce's sweet dreams music video gives the illusion that it is a dream with different elements that you would usually see in a night mare or a dream Michael buble 's i haven't met you yet is set in a supermarket ;the music video is like a musical with the various characters within the video workers etc. breaking out in dance and it is about him wishing to meet the perfect woman Ben Howard's only love music video is less extravagant than the others showing Ben Howard's doing various day to day activities in his life etc.Though the video is not highly extravagant the message is still sent across to the viewer
